Castell d'Alaró, Deià & Sóller, On to Palma

A clifftop castle climb, an afternoon in two honey-stone villages, then down to your Palma base for the trip's last two nights.

🗓️

Today's schedule

MORNING
🚗 Drive to Alaró
Check out of Fontsanta, ~1 h 5 min drive (approx.) north to the Alaró area.
MIDDAY
🥾 Castell d'Alaró climb
Park at the old Es Verger trailhead, hike ~1 hr to the clifftop ruins for huge island views.
LUNCH
🍖 Es Verger backup — it's showing closed
⚠️ Es Verger is flagged "temporarily closed" (checked 2026-07-13) — status is genuinely mixed, so call ahead same-week (+34 971 18 21 26) rather than counting on it. Backup: Sa Fonda d'Alaró in the village (traditional Mallorcan, 4.4★, closest to Es Verger's style) or El Trastero Cuina Bar (modern/casual, highest-rated at 4.7★).
AFTERNOON
Explore Deià & Sóller
Village lanes, a swim at Cala Deià, Sóller's plaça and the vintage tram.
EVENING
🏛️ Down to Palma
~30–35 min from Sóller. Check into Hotel Ciutat Jardí ✓ booked — 19th-century mansion on Ciutat Jardí beach, ~4 km east of the centre. Check-in 14:00–23:30. Then a casual dinner: save the big night for tomorrow. Note the hotel is not in old town, so dinner there means a short drive or taxi.
🎒

Remember & pack today

  • Check out of Fontsanta properly
  • Hiking shoes/boots — the Castell d'Alaró trail is rocky
  • Water + snacks for the hike
  • Sun protection — the trail is exposed
  • Call ahead to confirm Es Verger's status, or book the backup lunch spot
  • Swimsuit if you're doing Cala Deià
  • Hotel Ciutat Jardí booking confirmation (≈ C$890, payable at the property as €553.20)
☀️ Weather note: the Tramuntana runs a little cooler than the coast at altitude — a light layer is worth having for the hike and the villages.
